Rachel Conner, PsyD, HSPP
Hi, and welcome! I'm Dr. Rachel Conner, a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Conner Psychology.
I created this practice for adults who are thoughtful, capable, and often used to managing a great deal on their own.
My hope is to provide a space that is for you and just you. A space where you can sit down, exhale, and begin to explore the moments that feel beautiful, unbearable, messy, or simply part of everyday life.
My approach is grounded in the belief that psychological care should be both evidence-based and deeply personalized. I am interested in the whole picture—not just the concerns that bring you to therapy, but also the patterns, relationships, expectations, strengths, and experiences that shape how you move through the world.
I intentionally maintain a smaller caseload so that every client receives individualized care, meaningful attention, and the time their work deserves.
Whether you're navigating stress, burnout, a major life transition, or a desire to better understand yourself, therapy with Conner Psychology can offer a space to slow down, gain clarity, and move forward with greater intention.
My Background
Becoming a psychologist required years of education, clinical training, and supervised experience. I earned both my master's and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology before completing an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship, where I received additional training in psychological assessment, clinical neuropsychology, and health psychology. As a licensed psychologist and Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP), I provide assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for a wide range of mental and behavioral health concerns.
I earned my PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) at the University of Indianapolis and completed an APA-accredited internship at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. From there, I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for my post-doctoral fellowship through the University of Michigan and VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. During this time, I worked closely with individuals and their families as they navigated life-changing medical diagnoses such as traumatic brain injury, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. These experiences strengthened my appreciation for the emotional, relational, and practical challenges that often accompany major life transitions.
Following fellowship, I joined the Ann Arbor VA as a Staff Psychologist, where I led the integration of Health Psychology services within the weight management program. In this role, I worked with Veterans experiencing the psychological and behavioral aspects of chronic health conditions, body image concerns, adjustment to GLP-1 medications, and bariatric surgery. My work reinforced the important connection between physical health, emotional well-being, and lasting behavior change.
Throughout my training and career, I have worked with adults across the lifespan in college counseling, outpatient mental health, medical settings, specialty clinics, and organizational wellness. These experiences have allowed me to support people through a wide variety of life transitions, health challenges, and personal growth journeys.
More than any particular setting or specialty, my experiences have shaped how I practice. I approach therapy and assessment with curiosity, careful attention to detail, and a genuine desire to understand the whole person—not just the challenges that bring them to therapy. I believe meaningful change begins with feeling understood, making sense of your experiences, and working together to create a path forward that aligns with your values and goals.

What You Can Expect
A space where you don't have to have it all figured out.
We'll slow down, make sense of what's happening, and create space to explore the parts of your experience that may be harder to understand on your own.
Curiosity before conclusions.
I won't assume I know your story. I'll take the time to understand what has shaped you, what you're experiencing now, and what matters to you.
Thoughtful questions and honest reflection.
Sometimes the right question opens up a way of seeing yourself differently. I'll help you notice patterns, make connections, and consider perspectives you may not have encountered on your own. When it feels useful, I'll gently challenge you rather than simply affirming what you already believe.
Insight that translates into real life.
Understanding yourself matters. But insight alone doesn't always create change. We'll work together to connect what you're learning in therapy to the choices, relationships, habits, and experiences that make up your everyday life.
A collaborative relationship.
You know your life in a way I never could. I bring psychological training, clinical experience, curiosity, and an outside perspective. Together, we'll determine where to focus and what kind of work is most useful to you.
